A 30-acre farm in a landscape new to lavender.

The heart of The Lake District in the Unesco World Heritage Site.

Our meadow sits on south-facing hillsides, intertwined with ancient Westmorland damson trees. The slopes hold the sun. The soil drains well. The position, in one of England’s most dramatic landscapes, gives our lavender a character found nowhere else.

SPRING

Planting & tending

Every plant goes in by hand. We do not use machinery on the rows. The work is slow and deliberate — which is the only way to understand what the land is telling you.

SUMMER

Bloom & harvest

The harvest window is short and varied. We cut by hand at peak bloom — the precise moment when essential oil concentration is highest. The field will not wait and we do not rush it.

LATE SUMMER

Distillation

Fresh blooms move directly to our copper still in the Still Room. Steam distillation. Nothing added, nothing removed. The oil we capture carries the character of this particular season on this particular hillside.

AUTUMN

Blending & rest

Our apothecary works on the farm. Blending, testing, crafting, bottling, settling.  The Paper Foundation, traditionally make our hand made paper labels locally. Sustainability happens here.

The harvest informs the year and there is Lake District in every product!

Grown by hand
Every plant tended individually. No chemicals. No shortcuts. The relationship between grower and plant is the foundation of everything that follows.

Harvested at peak
Cut at the precise moment of maximum oil concentration. Hand harvest only. The timing shifts by days each year — we follow the plant, not the calendar.

Copper still distillation
Our Still Room houses a traditional copper still. Steam passes through fresh blooms and extracts pure essential oil. The resulting hydrolat — lavender water — is captured for use in our wider range.

Blended & bottled on site
Our apothecary works directly from our estate oil.   Every product carries the essential oil of the seasons harvest.

Labelled from the field
our labels are hand made using traditional processes, by  The Paper Foundation: We are working towards our labels being made from the spent lavender of the distillation.  Nothing leaves the estate unused.
